Welcome to the Korean Society of Hospital Medicine. In January 2021, with the introduction of a hospitalist management fee for inpatient care, South Korea officially initiated the system of hospitalists. Additionally, the need for hospital medicine for better inpatient care has become crucial. Therefore, the Korean Society of Hospital Medicine is dedicated to advancing the field of hospital medicine. Although it is still in its early stages as an academic discipline, we aim to provide as many opportunities as possible for sharing knowledge and experiences, so we kindly request your participation.

In a reality where the burden of inpatient care is substantial, and the workload of resident doctors needs to be reduced, there are still many vacancies for hospitalists. Many institutions in need of hospitalists face difficulties in recruiting them. This is partly because hospitals lack experience in what conditions and visions they should offer for recruitment, and candidates for hospitalists find it challenging to determine suitable conditions for themselves. Therefore, the Korean Society of Hospital Medicine intends to create a platform where all parties involved in the recruitment of hospitalists can come together. We are particularly interested in finding ways to provide assistance and generate more interest in non-metropolitan areas in the future.

With the emphasis on essential healthcare, the importance of hospital medicine will continue to grow. The Korean Society of Hospital Medicine aims to be the primary support and networking platform for hospitalists in South Korea, regardless of their medical specializations.
